Yes, I can say this confidently as we recently visited Melbourne with our one and half year old son and the entire experience was amazing. We, like any other parents of an infant had number of doubts and worries about managing with our baby, but the facilities and comforts the city provided us made us fall in love with it.

Here I give my take on our trip on each admirable facet of this wonderful city.

The first thing which comes to the mind of an Indian is good vegetarian food. And I still can't believe that there was an Indian restaurant at almost every street in the city. But the interesting thing was the international restaurants offering a wide range of vegetarian options which we actually ended up going to. Not only restaurants but Melbourne hosts several international brands for ice-creams, coffee, breads and what not!

We were greeted in Melbourne by the ever friendly staff of the Sky bus service, which runs non stop from the airport to the CBD area. With their free connecting bus to most CBD hotels, we reached our hotel in half the taxi fare. The best part of Melbourne is undoubtedly the Tram service with stations almost every 200 meters. Being there on Christmas day, all public transport was absolutely free. On other days,  a $7 day pass is all you need to roam around every possible tourist attraction on every possible mode of public transport. What's more, there is a free City Circle tram that runs every ten minutes around the most important streets and tourists can just hop on and off, visit places and board the next free tram. Most destinations would be less than 300 meters from the nearest tram station. Thus we were able to visit all major places of interest within one day without ever needing a taxi.

A broad spectrum of accommodation is available to suit all your needs and preferences at reasonable rates.

A must mention about the restroom facilities at every tourist spot, clean, neat and voila- a parents' section too, with facilities like feeding rooms, changing rooms, microwave to make food, what else can an infant parent ask for!!

You will find people from all over the world in Melbourne, and nearly every passer-by would greet you with a warm smile, making you feel at home.

Must - visit Destinations

There is something for everyone! I was looking forward to visit historic sites, my husband was interested in going to Melbourne Park, MCG and Rod Laver Arena and we wanted our son to enjoy at the Zoo and on the Skydeck.
Places we visited: Melbourne Park, MCG, Rod Laver Arena, Parliament House, Windsor Hotel, Church, State Library of Victoria, Melbourne Central Shopping Centre, Victoria Market, Harbor Town, Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, Eureka Skydeck 88, Melbourne Zoo, Federation Square, Yarra River Bank, Melbourne Downtown, Flinders Street RailwayStation, Fitzroy Gardens, Carlton Gardens and much more...
We also enjoyed Christmas special goodies market at the Flinders Street Railway Station.

I caught up on my husband's dream:

26th December is celebrated as Boxing Day in Australia and my husband also shares his birthday on the same day. And whats iconic about this day is the test match at MCG. Shashank being a die hard cricket fan always dreamt of seeing it live at MCG. And I was extremely happy that I could book the tickets and being there with him on the ground and thoroughly enjoyed the match.

Melbourne is going to be in our hearts forever as we created some some great memories there! Love ya M-E-L-B-O-U-R-N-E!
